High Noon
Expanding
their cinema-scopic surf sound by grafting bits of country, Vegas lounge,
60's girl group, and Luna-like guitar excursions into an already exciting
mix, The Lost Patrol make touring drummer Seth Clifford a permanent member
alongside multi-instrumentalist Stephen Masucci, new acoustic guitarist
Michael Williams, and vocalist/guitarist Danielle Kimak Stauss. Another
outstanding collection of music that completely captures the sound, feel
and, more importantly, the mood sought by The Lost Patrol, highlights
include: the Luna-does-Shadowy Men surf barrage of "Deep Stage";
a mournfully misty "Far, Far Away" (beamed in on a time-warped
signal from a 1961 radio broadcast including The Chantels?); a shiveringly
hypnotic "Neon Cowgirl"; and a truly definitive version of the
James Bond theme song, "You Only Live Twice". ~ Al Muzer
