The Lost Patrol
The
Lost Patrol is a NYC area band that has released a string of albums independently,
including the shimmeringly gorgeous "Lonesome Sky" in 2005.
Their sound is a bit in the vein of Mazzy Star, but more ethereal and
less plodding. "Lonesome Sky" is perfect night-time music...
sitting out on the balcony and looking up at the stars, kicking back and
letting the sounds wash over you. The Lost Patrol's style is an unusual
combination - dreamy pop with some elements that I can only describe as
"twang", with vocals that remind me of The Sundays or perhaps
The Cranes - and it all works beautifully. You can hear "Stars Collide"
from "Lonesome Sky" as well as the utterly brilliant "Sirens"
on Bluespace Radio this week, as we feature The Lost Patrol as our Indie/Unsigned
band of the week. Check them out on myspace at http://www.myspace.com/lostpatrol
or their website at thelostpatrol.com. Their CDs are available for purchase
on iTunes, and I highly recommend giving them a listen.
